Last Week…

May 5th, 2012

We kicked off the new term with a fabulous session from the equally fabulous Abi Harris! She treated the small (but perfectly formed!) Junior group to a Masterclass on ‘Split Scene’ technique which, as ever, the students rose admirably to; creating a filmic sequence about familial deceit and it’s consequences!

The Seniors explored Space & Status; Learning how to negotiate status with each other as a piece progresses and how eye contact (or lack of it!) can completely change the implications and intentions of a scene. They also worked on how to tell an intricate story through frozen images!

As it was new term, we collected  new random words for the summer – think we’re going to have fun with some of the more random, random ones..!!! But, not wishing to waste the words left over from last term we had Random 2/3 Words Theatre this week, with the usual, hilarious results…

Mystery Shoes : Shoes that will take over the world (and they’re only a pound)!

Scary Left Exit : In a totally crazy office, full of totally crazy people it’s the one, totally normal person who gets locked in overnight – and it’s scary in the dark…

Inspiration, Home : Waking up in the empty white room that is (allegedly!) Mia’s mind..!!

Grim, Care, Need : Visiting the Grim Reaper in his retirement home: Who takes over when Death is literally at Death’s door??

This Saturday – 28th April 2012 – We’re Back!

Pip is doing her supervisory thing today so if you need to contact her she will be on site from 12:30pm and can be reached on her mobile telephonic device: 07957 641 210!

We hope to see you there!

I know! Unbelievable isn’t it?! Can’t quite get my head round the fact that today is the last day of term! But it is and we’ve got a great session lined up for you! Pip is NOT in charge this week (she is in Norfolk fighting James Bond!) it will be the fabulous Sheila Datoo at the helm today. Last Week…

March 23rd, 2012

The fabulous Katie Grace Cooper was with us once again this week, bringing more of her amazing knowledge of Physicality and clowning…

She started the sessions with mental (the ‘Penguin Song’ and the ‘Rythm Game’) and physical (‘Splat, Fold, Focus’ and The Chair) warm ups and then went on to look at the idea of using sounds to create visuals! The students had to physically draw an inanimate object in their space (using different sounds for different shapes) and then use the object they had created! They also had to think about what a characteristic sounds like (ie a twitch!) and if you draw a beard on to your face what does that look/sound like?! The students also looked at creating an invisible object that they had to move around but the object itself had to remain stationary!! Brilliant work by all!!

We also returned to our much loved Random Word Theatre this week with the usual awesome results..!

Right : Meercats and Death…

Anything : A peculiar game of hide and seek  -  with a window cleaner!

Dying 1 : That’s hair dying, not euthanasia…

Dying 2 : Ant funeral…

Opportunity : An opportunity to move up in the cut throat world of industry arises! (A one man show brilliantly created and performed by William – well done you!)
