Well we kicked off the Autumn term with brilliant sessions from the hugely popular Actor/Director James Pegg (fresh from his 5 star triumph at this years Edinburgh Festival)!!
The Juniors explored the art of moving as an ensemble (both silently and to a soundtrack) and how to clearly portray changes in emotion and create tension without saying a word! The Seniors continued in the same vein working on ‘Reflections’ (physical & emotional) and ’3 stages of 3 emotions’ (Restless/Withdrawn/Blissful) which they then choreographed into a movement piece; and also ‘status and the exchange of status’ within a group of characters – this led to some really quite breathtaking short scenes! In the joint session we divided into 3 groups and each group was given the task of devising a short piece around one word titles: Fire, Water and Air. The end result was a selection of 3 totally different pieces: ‘The Great Fire of Oxford’ (Physical), ‘Narcissus’ (Movement) and ‘Fasten Your Seatbelts – You May Be About To Experience Some Turbulence!!’ (Physical Soundscape)

Unbelievably, summer is over… But don’t panic!! Autumn brings a new term at theatrecenter! Yes! This Saturday, we’re back!! With another fantastic season of exciting sessions and brilliant workshop leaders all of whom are flexing their teaching muscles to bring you an awesome term of theatrical experiences! We have a great cast of staff lined up for you over the coming weeks and will be kicking off with the welcome return of the excellent Mr James Pegg who is looking forward to working with you all again! We hope that you all had a FABULOUS Summer break, it was great to see those of you who attended the Earwig Summer Schools 2010 and here’s to a BRILLIANT Autumn term at theatrecenter! Bring it on!!
