Internationally acclaimed clown & physical performer John Hinton joined forces with the ever popular James Pegg for a session on Physical Theatre this week. The students were really put through their paces as they worked on spatial awareness and the use of stage space; the use of actions rather than words in a performance situation; and dynamics & reality. They then worked on some straight-forward comedy sketches where they were able to put these newly honed skills into practise with some excellent results!

After the lousy British weather put paid to our first session of the term, theatrecenter was back with a vengeance (despite the torrential rain!!) last week when we were joined by ex-Coronation street Actor and Director Owen Aaronovitch! The Junior group developed some weird and wonderful characters around a selection of minimal props & costumes whilst the Seniors explored the art of creating dramatic tension; culminating in 2 pieces of ‘edge of your seat’ theatre! We also started looking at how soundtracks effect the way we view a piece of theatre, creating 2 new pieces (1 comedy, 1 drama) which we will be developing throughout the coming weeks. A great start to a new term and a new year!

Due to the severe weather, and the closure of Blatchington Mill school beacause of it, theatrecenter WILL NOT be running our session on Saturday 9th January.
